This study day explores the extraordinarily rich textile traditions of India. Discover Indian trade textiles to the west and east. Learn about the regional variations of Indian textiles from the Punjab and Gujarat to Bengal and the Coromandel Coast. Explore the designs, techniques & stylistic development of motifs like the boteh or paisley in Kashmir Shawls through lectures, an object study session and guided tour of the Ashmolean’s collection of Indian textiles on display, including the new Kashmir Shawl display case followed by Indian afternoon tea.
