Event dates: 18 – 21 July 2013
This year’s Art in Action (held annually at Waterperry, near Wheatley, outside Oxford) will feature several Asian textile artists demonstrating their work, including:
– The Tentmakers of Cairo, who make intricately hand-sewn wall-hangings, originally used to adorn the insides of tents
– Zarina Kendjaeva, who draws traditional 18th-19th century Bukhara patterns freehand on cotton or silk fabric prior to embroidering them with silk
– Fatullo Kendjaev, who weaves carpets using traditional 14th-15th century designs from central Asia.
