Exhibition dates: 10 July – 7 October 2013
Members of the public are invited to discover an exceptional collection of tsutsugaki textiles on show for the first time outside of Japan. Tsutsugaki is the Japanese term for the practice of drawing designs on cloth using rice paste, dyeing the cloth, and then washing off the paste.
The Musée Guimet will be exhibiting the little known but incredible art of tsutsugaki by showing some thirty examples from a private Japanese collection, one of the richest in the world, accompanied by ten or so pieces from the prestigious Krishna Riboud collection belonging to the Musée Guimet.
